Mount Pleasant Community Art Screen and grunt gallery will be at 10th and Main Street Saturday, August 11 from 12 – 6 PM if you want to join us and get your photo taken for our Neighbourhood Collage and talk to us about your ideas for the Urban Screen!
grunt gallery is bringing our staff and volunteers to the out to the Vancouver Mural Festival to do outreach for our new Mount Pleasant Community Art Screen (located on the western side of Kingsway Avenue and Broadway). We want you to stop by our booth Saturday, August 11 on 2560 Main Street, just beside Bean Around The World on Main & 10th Street to find out about our new community project and get your picture taken for our Neighborhood College and talk to us about your ideas!
We will set up a backdrop and have a professional photographer and videography, with Lorna Boschman (EastVan Digital Stories), on sight to take the images and talk to people directly about the project, and to obtain permissions.
We will also be showing a selection of video and photography of artist’s work relating to the Mount Pleasant Community Art Screen. As one of grunt gallery’s first commissions for the
urban screen, we ran a series of Digital Stories workshops. Two of the Digital Stories: participants, Michelle LaFlamme and Don Martin, made stories about the Vancouver
Mural Festival. You can view them here at these Vimeo links.
We will also have information about the screen’s mandate, the submission process. grunt’s staff, curators and volunteers will be on sight to speak to people about how the new urban screen relates to the Mural Festival, the greater Vancouver art scene and our international networks. So come on down and visit us from noon to 6 PM at the Vancouver Mural Festival Street Party!
